Following this afternoon’s Government announcement advising against non essential social gatherings, it has been decided that the Heritage Centre will be closed with immediate effect. Re-opening will be dependent on future Government announcements and we will keep you informed once we know when this is likely to be.

A new display featuring photographs of Sunnyhurst Woods has been set up in the Main Exhibition Room.
The display contains photographs of the Huntington Bridge, the Chadwick Gate, Ellis Gibson Pond, the Moat, Cottage Bridge, the Woodman’s Hut, Potters Gate, Lightbown Fountain, the Moat and the Tea House or Kiosk.
Heritage Centre Talks
The next series of talks at the Heritage Centre will begin in March. These talks occur on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, they start at 7pm and are open to everybody, admission £2.00 and £1.00 to members.
Due to the escalating Coronavirus situation both of the talks below have been cancelled until further notice.

EXHIBITIONS IN 2020
Our next exhibition will be ‘A Century of Darwen Weddings’ and will open on Friday 13th March 2020 . This exhibition will show the changes in fashion and traditions in weddings through the years 1900 to 2020.
In the early summer of 2020 an exhibition of the ‘Photographic History of Trams in Darwen ‘ will take place.
We will also be having an exhibition by Ian Gillibrand on Darwen Music across the Decades in the late summer 2020.
The actual dates for the start of these exhibitions will be announced later on this website, on our Facebook page, in Twitter and in the members newsletter.
Family history for beginners
The Heritage Centre intends to run a series of evening sessions helping people to begin their family history research. It is intended that these will take place on a fortnightly basis. If you are interested in doing this sort of research please do get in touch with us.
