Darwen Roll of Honour for WW2

The following Roll of Honour has been created by the Darwen Heritage Centre to Commemorate those brave souls who were born, lived or worked in Darwen and paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of their country during the Second World War. Whilst every care has been taken to try and record the details of all those who come within the designated criteria it is possible that there are others yet to be found. If you are aware of any other person whom you feel should be included in this list please contact the Heritage Centre on: [email protected]

This Roll of Honour has been compiled using the following sources: Darwen News copies on film at Darwen Library, Darwen’s Roll of Honour compiled by Graham Groom 1992, various internet sites including Ancestry, Find my Past, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Lancashire BMD, Free BMD, The National Archive, Cotton Town. Our thanks go especially to those members of the public across the world who have shared their family stories and photos. If, like them, you have photos or stories to share we would like to hear from you. Contact the Darwen Heritage Centre via email on: [email protected]

Further details on all those listed can be found at the Darwen Heritage Centre where they can be viewed on request.
