The Dedication of War Graves

The dedication ceremony today for the placement of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstones for Pte John Farnhill and Pte Squire Haworth was well attended in the Western Cemetery in Darwen. Thanks go to Revd Terence Young for conducting the service, John East for his reading, Liz Marsland from the CWGC, Liz Rutherford from Central URC for reading the Testament for Squire Haworth, Gordon Smith for playing the laments, members of the Darwen Branch of the British Legion and Tony Foster for his research.

- The ladies holding John Farnhill’s Medals are his Granddaughter Wyn and Liz Marsland from the CWGC. John Farnhill died in Dec.1918 after contracting TB in the trenches in France.
